Signs Heart Failure

Coronary artery disease (CAD), also known as coronary heart disease, it is a condition in which plaque builds up inside the coronary arteries.

These arteries are vital because they supply your heart muscle with oxygen-rich blood. Plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood.

When plaque builds up in the arteries, the condition is called atherosclerosis which is very dangerous if left untreated.

If plaque narrows the arteries it will reduce blood flow to your heart muscle. It also makes it more likely that blood clots will form in your arteries.

Blood clots can partially or completely block blood flow leading to strain or death.

Pulmonary hypertension is increased pressure in the pulmonary arteries. The arteries that carry blood from your heart to your lungs does so in order to pick up oxygen.

Some causes of PH symptoms are things such as shortness of breath during regular activity, tiredness, chest pain, and a racing heartbeat. As the disease worsens, its symptoms may limit all physical activity.

Valvular heart disease is the name given to any dysfunction or abnormality of one or more of the heart’s four valves, these are the mitral valve and aortic valve on the left side, and the tricuspid valve and pulmonic valve on the right side.
In a usually functioning heart, the four valves act has gateways with flaps made of tissue that keeps the blood flowing in one direction at specific rate of time. They work to allow blood to flow through and then tightly shut until the next sequence begins. If there is a disorder with the valves this weakens flow require leading to heart attack or death.

Valvular heart disease in pregnant women may pose a greater risk depending on the type of valve disorder. Pregnant women should be advised to have regular visits to a cardiologist during the course of their pregnancy to reduce any risk occurring to themselves or their unborn child.
